The film was produced by Bumble & bumble founder and author of Hair Heroes Michael Gordon and is an offshoot of his documenting Vidal's life in a book to be released later this year. The film spans 80 years of Sassoon's life - from a London orphanage, to the Israeli Army, the floors of his salon on Bond Street, and his knighting by Queen Elizabeth II.
The film features a soundtrack with music by The Jam, The Loving Spoonful, Gustav Mahler, and the chamber ensemble Clogs (featuring guitarist Bryce Dessner of The National), Redhooker, and Arcade Fire side project Bell Orchestre This movie is recommended to anyone who is in the hair or fashion industry and those who wish a deeper understanding of the sixties forces and personalities which changed modern society. Sassoon is, truly, the force of nature that altered the fashion landscape as would wind or water the earth.
