Retro Hair That’s Always In Style
The cropped pixie cut was worn first in the cinema by the "It Girl" Clara Bow. In 1968 Mia Farrow got her waist length locks shorn at Heathrow Airport by Vidal Sassoon for the film ‘Rosemary’s Baby.’ And in 2001 Audrey Tatau wore a lovely pixie in the film ‘Amelie.’ Katie Holmes, Rihanna, Emma Watson and Victoria Beckham have all used the cropped pixie to make a bold statement about personal changes in their lives.
Retro event hairstyles announce a return to elegance and luxury. Women of bygone eras exuded a sense of elegance and refinement that is not always on display today. It came from their upbringing, their sense of place in society and identified their social standing, even throughout the wild sixties. It wasn't just the way they dressed; it was the way they presented themselves. Every woman can take a bit of old Hollywood with them to the theater, dinner or a work party by visiting their salon and waving their long locks with rollers, clips and brilliantine. Their evening will be a vignette woven of glamour and doused in stardust. They are easily taken back to the old Hollywood glamour, where men opened doors for ladies and a limo was always parked out front with the motor running.
Whether you are wearing the look down in flowing shiny curls or pinning it up into a soft chignon, always polish the hair with a soft, dry pomade or pomade mixed with brilliantine. Rub a little on the hands - just enough to barely feel it on the fingers and palms of the hands - and brush it through the hair with your fingers, forming the waves as you do so. If you so wish, pin the hair, spray it and go. Your Hollywood premier awaits. We hope this article has inspired you to look at our topic, Google retro hair a bit, go to YouTube for how-tos and try a few retro looks of your own. Whether you are a stylist or a woman with a keen sense of fashion adventure, a foray into the wilds of retro hair can be both exciting and educational, and is always guaranteed to be a step into the beautiful. Many hair fashion trends come and go, but some looks are so timeless they will always find their way back in style. The short geometric bob is always an eye opener and attracts a lot of attention on the young and trendy. Bangs don't have the, well, bang that they used to , but they’ve managed to stage a return to center stage every dozen years or so. They are back with pop, now. Celebrities such as Zoe Deschanel, Christina Ricci, and Kelly Osbourne use bangs to power out of the pack and play the part of stunning individuals.
Modern retro hair is a bit less structured than that of the thirties through the seventies. It no longer takes hours to recreate, not with the advances in hair products and tools. They are a lot more flirty and mix better with recreated eras of clothing. The hair is often curled with large barrel rollers or pushed into shapes with thin flat irons and then pinned with clips until cooled. This sets the curls in and gives longivity to the style.
